James A Holland

James (Jim) Alonzo Holland age 91 of Hernando, Florida, born in Bee Ridge, Florida, on September 17, 1921, to the late Lloyd Paul Holland and Alice Mae (Cothron) Holland, changed addresses from his home in Hernando, Florida, to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Larson Holland and Harvey Curtis Holland.

Mr. Holland served his country in the United States Navy, having worked the dry docks in California until shortly after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He went on to be a special delivery letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. In his latter years, he enjoyed serving his Lord as an active member of the Inverness Church of God.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis M. (Roberts) Holland, who he was married to for 70 years. Jim and Phyllis had four children: Terri (Sonny) Thompson of Brunswick, GA; M’Liss (Allen) Grissom, Brooksville, FL; Paul (Sherrie) Holland, Hernando, FL; and Kevin (Lisa) Holland, Largo, FL. There are eight grandchildren: Renée Helms, Brunswick; Randy Helms, Stanford, CT; Tiffany Holland, Largo, FL; Shelley Brooks, Circle Pines, MN; Jody Grissom, Spring Hill; Cody Holland of Chattanooga, TN; and Peyton and Natalee Holland, Largo. Jim is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Jim’s homecoming will begin on Saturday, May 18th, at the Inverness Church of God beginning with visitation at 2 p.m. and a memorial service at 3 p.m. Chas E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family.
