Bertie E. “Bert” Rouse, 86, Floral City, died May 14, 2013 at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. A native of Worthington, Missouri, he was born on Dec. 11, 1926 to the late Clarence and Anna (Sparks) Rouse and moved here in 1975 from Wisconsin. Bert was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Floral City. He enjoyed being around his animals and gardening. Bert served our country during WW II in the Army, and after moving here, he worked for the Citrus County School System as a Custodian at Inverness Middle School and had his own lawn care business.
Bert leaves his wife of 61 years, Helen Kirkpatrick Rouse; four children: Patrick Rouse of Hernando; Linda Ritter of San Antonio, TX; Tina Muller of Inverness; Connie Batson of Floral City; four brothers: James Rouse of Nobleton, FL; Clarence and Charles Rouse both of Missouri; Elvin Rouse of Floral City; one sister Monte Ramsey of Rockford, IL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nova and 2 sisters, Eva and Ruby.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 19th at 3:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. Military Honors will follow on Monday at 10:00 AM at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of fresh cut flowers, the family is requesting live plants which will be planted in his memory.
