Laura A. Pearce, 101, of Inverness, Florida passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Barrington Place, Lecanto. She was born on November 28, 1911 in Elba, Alabama to the late Charles S. and Mollie (Wise) Lee. Laura was an Assistant Chief Operator for United Telephone Company, and arrived in this area in 1989, coming from Avon Park, Florida. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Inverness and enjoyed reading, quilting, and cooking; as well as spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, James Pearce; one son, James Lee Pearce; two brothers, Joe and John; and three sisters, Ruth, Mildred, and Betty. Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Henry) Wright of Inverness; one brother, Kenneth (Jeannette) Lee of Missouri; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in August. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 9:00 AM through 10:00 AM, with the funeral service at 10:00 AM. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. Pastor John Carpenter officiating. Burial to follow at 3:00 PM at Bougainvillea Cemetery, Avon Park, Florida.
