Maureen Richie, 63, Inverness, died March 10, 2012 at home under the loving care of her family. Maureen was born in Plainfield, NJ. on Sept 26, 1948 to William and Marie (Scarpelli) Comiskey, Jr. and moved to Florida in 1974 from Metuchen, NJ. She was a teacher in the Hernando Co. School System with 35 years of service and taught at the Dolores S. Parrot Middle School. Maureen received her Bachelor\’s Degree from Jersey City State Teacher\’s College and her Master\’s Degree from the University of South Florida. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
Survivors include her two children, James Richie and his wife, Cynthia of Royal Palm Beach, FL and Ann Marie Teel and her husband, Rodney of Wilmington, NC; Her Mother, Marie Comiskey, Inverness; 2 brothers, William Comiskey, III of Inverness; John P. (Melissa) Comiskey, Ft. Worth, TX; her sister, Kathleen Balabas of New Smyrna Beach; 4 grandchildren, Collin, Rebecca, Audrey, and Cloie; Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was previously married to James Richie and was preceded in death by her Father, William J. Comiskey, Jr on Sept 28, 1996.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 14th at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Leke, celebrant. Reposing hours are on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family will establish an educational fund in memory of Maureen at the school where she taught. Contributions may be made directly to the family.
