ELMER Wagner, 75, Floral City died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville FL as a result of an automobile accident. Elmer was born November 9, 1940 in Phelps, KY to the late Ellis and Myrtle (Dotson) Wagner. He came to Floral City in 2002 from Bay City, MI where he owned and operated Wagner’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant until his retirement. He was an active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Inverness, FL.

Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory is his loving wife, Sue (Tucker) Wagner; two children, Charles “Chuck” Wagner and wife, Marianne, Commerce Township, MI; Denise Phillips and husband, Jeff, (Elmer’s ‘2nd’ son) Brighton, MI; Step Son, Gerald Woody and wife, Kathy, Bartow, FL; Step Daughter, Susan Woody and husband, Michael, Clarksville,OH; 5 grandchildren, Joanne, Chuck, Clint, Judy , and Stephen; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a loving grandson, Jeffrey. Also surviving are three brothers, Ervin Wagner (Becky), Winchester, KY; Ellis Wagner Jr (Jeannetta), Kimper, KY; Herman Wagner, Phelps, KY; four sisters, Patsy Stump, Floral City; Bobbie Jean Dotson, Melbourne, FL; Lucille Martin, Higgins Lake, MI and Lois Dolin (Bill) Ocala, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by three brothers.

Elmer was actively involved with his community and loved interacting with all people..he never met a stranger. He was a passionate classic car enthusiast and belonged to the Breakfast Club of Nature Coast and the Geezers Car Group of Citrus County.

He was blessed with an innate vision and ability to turn ‘one man’s junk into another man’s treasure’. He will be sorely missed by his family.

The family will receive friends at the Cornerstone Baptist Church on Sunday, August 21, from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Monday, August 22 at 10:00 am with Reverend Greg Kell officiating. Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made in Elmer’s memory to the Cornerstone Baptist Church. 1100 W Highland Blvd, Inverness, FL 34452 to the “I Share Campaign Fund”.
