Sarah C. Smith, age 95, Inverness, Florida died Wednesday, August 11, 2016, at Citrus Health & Rehab Center in Inverness. She was born June 27, 1921 to the late James R. Knott and Beatrice (Foster) Knott in Husdon, N.Y. and moved to Florida in August 1965 from Averill Park, NY and came to this area in 1976. She had been an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary since June 1939. Her career was in accounting. During her retirement years, she cared for the elderly. She was an active member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed making coordinated sanctuary sets, priest’s eucharistic vestments, and deacons stoles for three churches.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Andrew N. Smith, a grandson, two sisters, and two brothers and her older daughter, Dorothy Exler.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, William Hotaling and wife Ada, Port St. Lucie, FL; a daughter, Susan Morris of Pasco, WA; two stepdaughters, Roberta Gonczy, Burnsville, NC; Julie Patakey , Jamesburg, NJ; 1 brother, Leonard Knott, Watervliet, NY who is 92, retired ; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.

Sarah’s life will be remembered and honored on Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 at 10:00 AM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Father Eugene Reuman of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 6 PM.
