Barbara M. Hensley, 63, Floral City passed away Aug 10, 2015 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus and The Nature Coast. Barbara was born in St. Petersburg, FL on June 16, 1952 to the late Charles and Edna (Canning) McAninch and came to this area in 1979 from there. Barbara graduated from Northeast High School in St. Petersburg and received her Bachelors Degree in education from the University of South Florida. Following graduation, she taught at Starkey Elementary School in Largo. After moving to Inverness, she taught at Pleasant Grove Elementary School and the First United Methodist Church’s Footsteps school.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry Hensley of Floral City; three children, Jeremy W. Hensley and wife Katie, Inverness; Keri Leigh Hensley, Charlotte, NC; Megan Marie Davis and husband, Donald of Tallahassee, FL; 1 sister, Susie Robertson and husband Rick of St Petersburg; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Marie Kelsey, Jacob Wayne Hensley, Landon Clyde Hensley, Dominic Anthony Hensley; Oliver Benjamin Davis.
There will be a celebration of Barbara’s life on Saturday, Aug. 15th at 2:00 PM at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Kell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
