Robert David Yurkovich, age 84, went to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on March 6, 2025. Born in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Anna Sostaric.
Robert served in the United States Army. He arrived in Inverness over 20 years ago, after retiring from a long career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service.
Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness. He was dedicated to The Methodist Men’s Group, the choir, and Kairos prison ministries. He enjoyed working on his golf game and spending time with family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years, Karen; his children, Christopher and wife Shelley, Mark and wife Amy, Brian, Kevin and wife Tischa, Amanda and her husband Brad Hess, Roberta Armon; stepchildren, Tom and his wife Judy Opdenhoff, Ed and his wife Kim Opdenhoff, Shari and husband Bill Maudlin; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters Cheryl Pekala and Valerie Yurkovich, and siblings Anne Haynie, Mary Sojak and Thomas Yurkovich.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Inverness on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
