David J. Verity, of Inverness, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. He was 55 years old. David was born to the late John L. and Joan M. (Vollmer) Verity in Patchogue, NY on June 11, 1969, and he was the baby of the family. He was raised Methodist. David started playing T-ball at age 3, loved bowling, playing the guitar (he was even on stage once playing his guitar at a rock concert), making his own guitar picks, was a huge wrestling fan, and loved the Hulk. He would dress up as “Frosty the Snowman” in the Christmas parades up north and he also graduated from Clown College to become “Buttons the Clown.” David was also a member of FFRA, which is Families and Friends Reaching for the Abilities, and Reaching Beyond Disabilities, participated in the Special Olympics, and attended “Family Café Conventions.” His family and friends would say that David had to be first at everything! All who knew him loved him, and his presence will be greatly missed. David leaves behind his sister Irene Nicola of Sarasota; his brothers John Verity (Debi) of Becket, MA and Billy Verity (Beth Ann) of South Bend, IN; three nieces, two nephews, six grand nephews and one grand niece. His family will be holding a time of gathering and sharing memories of David, and friends may pay their respect, on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 10 until 12 noon at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in David’s memory to The Key Training Center, Key Light 2 House, by going online to https://keytrainingcenter.org/kcf/donate/. David will be laid to rest with his parents in Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
