Marvin K. “Ken” Jordan, age 87, of Inverness, died on February 4, 2025 at HPH Hospice in Lecanto. Born in Barnwell, SC, he was the son of the late William Clark and Ruby Hazel (Cook) Jordan.
In 1956, Ken graduated from Columbia High School. He and his bride, Marian married the same year. He started a long career in retail at his first job as a stock boy for McCrory’s in South Carolina. He transferred to Ocala and worked his way up to store manager earning accolades as Manager of the Year. In 1971, Ken went to work for Beall’s Department Store from which he retired in 1992. He earned Manager of the Year awards twice during his career with Beall’s. By far, Ken’s favorite job was running his own lawn service; lawn care and gardening had been his “hobbies”. He anticipated taking on 10 lawns but ended up with 50. He sold the business in 2002.
Ken was passionate about his charitable work in the community. He worked to bring Christmas to families in need through the Citrus County Family Resource Center. He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Inverness serving on both the Personnel and Nominating Committees. He also served as an usher and played softball in the Church League. He went on to become a member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness serving as a Trustee and working member of the Building and Grounds Committee.
Ken’s favorite place to be was his home. Favorite past times included watching TV; he loved football, basketball and baseball. He played “Hand & Foot” with his Thursday and Friday night card group. His favorite vacation was relaxing in the mountains or at the beach.. His favorite color was red and his favorite flower was azalea. His favorite events were his wedding day and the births of his daughters, Pam and Jan. He lived and breathed for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Pamela (Mark) Line of Spartanburg, SC and Janet (Jim) Rashley of Inverness; grandchildren, Alyse (Dr. Mitchell) Worley and Sam (Meg) Line of South Carolina, and Benjamin (Ashley) Rashley, and Lauryn E. (Austin) Burns of Inverness; and his five (+one on the way) beloved great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 7th, 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Inverness; Dr. Byron Brown officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church or HPH Hospice House in Lecanto.
Ken will be laid to rest at Crescent Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina.

Papa was so loving, generous, and hard working! We miss him so much, but we’re filled with hope to know he is fully restored and healed, rejoicing with his Savior.
