Carol Frances Ownbey, age 87, of Inverness, died on January 27, 2025 at the Life Care Center of Citrus County. Born in Largo, FL, she was the daughter of the late Nathan N. and Frances E. (Duke) Shaw. Formerly from St. Petersburg, Carol and her husband, Frank relocated to Citrus County in 1973.
An active member of the OES #164 in Floral City, Carol was Past Matron. She loved time with her family; especially barbeques. Not only was she a wonderful cook, Carol was an accomplished seamstress. Quiet time included her crossword puzzles and word search. And she was a deer hunter.
In addition to her loving husband, Frank, left to cherish her memory are her sons, Frank M. Ownbey, Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Sherman (Jean) N. Ownbey of Inverness; brother, Roger Shaw; sister, Virginia; six grandsons; six great grandchildren; and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Nathan, Robert, Richard, Mark, Elizabeth and Martha.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Carol on Saturday, February 1st, 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.

Uncle Frank,Frankie,Sherman and extended Family I am so sorry for the loss of Aunt Carol. My heart and prayers will be with you all tomorrow. I have so many fond memories of time spent with her. The best ones are when she and Uncle Frank let me stay a summer with them in Floral City. Memories and Good times are meant to be treasured. I will certainly treasure mine. God bless you all.
