William Edward Thaw

William “Bill” Edward Thaw, age 82, died at his residence in Inverness on January 5, 2025. Born in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Herman and Marie (Young) Thaw.  Bill moved to Citrus County from Folsom, NJ about 28 years ago. He retired from his career as a cable splicer working in telecommunications, first for New Jersey Bell, then Verizon.

Bill was an avid Harley Davidson rider. He enjoyed time at the IR-RU in Inverness and Biketoberfest in Daytona. He also had great adventures on his Grady-White cruiser on Chesapeake Bay. He was a member of both the Florida Garden Railway Society and Gulf Coast & Central Florida Railroad Museum at Bushnell Station.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 12 years, Inga; daughters and bonus children, Sharon Weideman, Kimberley Blithe, Serena Blackwell, and Amanda Thaw, and Kristina Eggers; son Thomas Eggers; brothers and sisters and bonus siblings, George Thau, Lorraine Zito, Michael Thau, Steven Thau, and Valarie Slocum, and Robert Gloeser, Gabriele Gloeser, and Evelyn Wilson; and eight grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Thau and Frank Thau.

A memorial service and celebration of Bill’s life will take place on Friday, January 24th, 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Gulf Coast & Central Florida Railroad Museum, 6470 WC 476, Bushnell, FL 33513. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

    I.m going to miss my big brother ,every day for the rest of my life, He was ALWAYS there for me . I am sad to have him go. but Im happy for the times we shared. I’ll be telling funny stories to my grandson, so that he will get to know Bill also. And I have A LOT of funny stories to tell.
