Robert (“Bob”) Charles Bendle, of Inverness, passed away in Gainesville at UF Health Shands Hospital on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was 78. Bob was born in Roscoe, NY to Charles and Annabelle (Lake) Bendle.

Bob served proudly in the USMC during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.
Bob worked for the state of New York at the Mid Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center for over three decades before retiring.

Bob and his wife, Sheila, moved down to Citrus County in 2006. He loved fishing, reading, was extremely social, and loved helping others when he could. He was very active in the Citrus County Veterans Coalition, volunteered with Hospice for Veterans, the American Legion in Inverness Post #77, and was a life member of the Marine Corps League Post #1139. Bob also was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness.

He was preceded in death by his sister Caroline and his brother Curt. Those left to cherish Bob’s memory are his devoted and loving wife of 55 years Sheila Bendle of Inverness; his daughters Melissa Secore (RJ) of Inverness and Michelle Beatty (John) of Concord, NC; and his four grandchildren Shane Beatty, and Nicole, Taylor, and Autumn Secore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be performed on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima at 10:00 AM. He will be buried later with honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
