Alfred J. Gogan, Jr., of Homosassa, FL passed away peacefully at Vitas Hospice House in Lecanto at the age of 85. Alfred (AJ) was born in Trenton, NJ to Alfred, Sr. and Ada Mae Bice Gogan. He served in the US Navy, and following his military career, he was a paid driver, as well as a volunteer firefighter for Rusling Hose Volunteer Fire Department for more than 15 years. He was a bus driver for NJ Transit for 10 years before moving to Ladson, SC in the late 80’s, where he also worked as a bus driver with Van Com for 11 years. He retired in 2003 and moved to Homosassa with his late wife, Maryann. He loved fishing, music, and playing the keyboard. He was active in the Forest View HOA & Social Club. AJ was also an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where he was an altar server and later a sacristan. Finally, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he held the position of treasurer for a number of years. AJ is survived by his sister, Kathleen Elias (Charles), 5 children (and their spouses), 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held for AJ on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 1:00pm at St. Benedict Catholic Church 455 S Suncoast Blvd, Crystal River, FL 34429. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care 3075 S. Florida Avenue Inverness, FL 34450.
