Dean A Valentine

Dean Alton Valentine, 75 of Lecanto, FL, passed away June 22, 2023 at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, FL. Dean was born on August 26, 1947 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Lester Kaye and Betty Jane (Brown) Valentine. He attended grade school and high school in Ohio and attended Central State University in Ohio. He came to Citrus County in 2014 from Chicago, IL.

Dean was noted for having a “radio voice” and did many voice overs. During his career he was the Business Manager for the US Postal Service covering the Great Lakes states. While there, he received many Postal Awards for his service. Dean was also a great sports fan. He loved all sports especially football and baseball. He knew the teams, players and statistics for all his favorite teams: Ohio State Buckeyes, Chicago Bears and Cubs. He enjoyed playing football, baseball and golf. He also loved music and dancing, especially to the Motown Sounds.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 15 years, Sandra Valentine; his sons: Alton Reed of Alpharetta, GA, Brad Valentine of Chillicothe, OH, Ryan Tallie of California; his daughters: Kirsten Hinton of Columbus, OH, Kelly Valentine of Griffith, IN; Kortney Valentine of Merrillville, IN; and extended family, Lisa Clearman of Maryville, TN, and April Janiszewski of Chicago, IL; his brother Dana Valentine of Chillicothe, OH and 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 2:00PM from the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. The procession leaves promptly for the cemetery at 1:15PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Disabled Veterans or the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital – Hospice Care. Cremation is under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
