Walter Norris Hanlin,JR., 87, passed away Monday, April 3rd, 2023. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He and his late wife Annie were married for 62 years and raised eight children. He owned and operated his own Hanlin Shoe Repair/custom Orthopedics business for 35 years in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, before retiring to Inverness Florida.
Walter “Walt” is survived by his his children, Crystal A. Hanlin, Dawn Lynn Hanlin, Kelly John Hanlin, and Anna M. Hanlin; several grandchildren including David A. Hanlin, Hunter Hanlin, Dillion Cullen of Georgia, Brianna C. Burgess, Noah S. Martin, Lucas B. Hanlin, Heather, Amy and Janice Hanlin of Ohio, Amy Rose and Carson, Roger Decker, and Tyler Gathergood; his very special sister-in-law Susie Ferda Hanlin of Huntington, West Virginia, and niece, Jane Hanlin Harrell of Charleston, WVA; his brother Denny Hanlin (Sara) of Greensboro NC., . He was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Ann S. Boni Hanlin, his four sons, Walter Norris Hanlin, III, Timothy Jay Hanlin, Shawn Adam Hanlin, and Stacy Lee Hanlin, and his special brother Bert Hanlin of Huntington, WVa., and parents, Walter Norris Hanlin Sr., of Baltimore, Maryland and Anna Mae Dunn Hanlin Stewart of Greensboro, NC.
Walt enjoyed working with his hands, building and remodeling homes or anything with a motor as hobbies( he could fix anything…he was truly gifted), RVing across the U.S. in his motor home with his wife, “Annie”, and spending time with his family.
He is being cremated and his funeral is being arranged by his family to take place at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Florida. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
