James Vincent Castellano, Jr., age 87, Inverness, FL passed away October 17, 2021 at his residence. James was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 1, 1934 to the late James V. Castellano, Sr. and Jean Cartigiano Castellano and came to Florida in 1983 from Brooklyn, NY where he owned and operated a dry cleaning business. He was a member of our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He served our country in the armed forces, United States Army. He also played baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers as a pitcher in the Triple A Farm System. He was passionate about the NY Yankees, but also loved the Tampa Bay Rays. Other hobbies and interests were horse racing. He enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby. He also loved cooking Italian Food and soups and going on drives, meeting with friends for coffee at the local restaurant. Another favorite pastime was playing the lottery and scratch offs and admiring old cars. He also listened to music, such as Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, but also loved other music with a good beat to dance to. He had a dry sense of humor and was very loved and will be missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory are 4 children: Christine Castellano, Tampa, FL; Bernadette Castellano, Beverly Hills, FL; Jean Courtney, Inverness, FL; step-son Mark Gandolfo, Gloucester, VA; 4 grand-children: Danielle, Isabella, Amanda, and Joseph; the mother of his children, Maureen LoVetro of Beverly Hills, FL.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 4:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Fr. Claudius Mganga of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating.
