David Wayne Ditchfield had a peaceful transition in Beverly Hills, Florida on September 10, 2021 at the age of 83. He was gregarious and lived life fully. An avid tennis and pickleball player, he also enjoyed sailing/boating, playing his guitar and traveling especially to his favorite beaches. Horses had been important to him all his life as he trained and raced trotter horses both in Florida and Canada. He moved to Citrus County Florida in 1976 and owned several businesses including the Inverness Amoco Gas Station downtown and Broker of a local Real Estate company; he is best known for the last 36 years helping people regain their hearing through his work as an Audioprotologist at his Tri-County Hearing offices in Citrus and Marion Counties. He was active in many community organizations including a volunteer for the Inverness Fire Department assisting with the fight to save Citrus High School during the blaze in 1985. He was born in Ottawa, Canada, January 3, 1938 a son for Harvey and Edna (Maxwell) Ditchfield and spent most of his growing years on the Gatineau River. After graduating from Ryerson University he partnered in a steel fabricating company in Chelsea until he became a teacher at Philemon Wright High School and football coach. He was grateful for his time there and had many fond memories of touching the lives of students and players. David served a term as a Councillor in Chelsea (West Hull). He was a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason and piloted his own sea plane. Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn Ditchfield. A loving father and husband, he is deeply missed by his children Amanda Johnson and her husband Kirk of Beverly Hills; sons: Gordon Ditchfield of Beverly Hills, Michael Ditchfield of Inverness; and granddaughter, Megan Ditchfield of Ocala. Memorial services for David are being planned for a later date arrangements at Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
