Byron David Strickland of Hernando, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital on September 2, 2021 at the age of 70. He was born to the late Byron Ball and Marian (Smith) Strickland on January 24, 1951 in Johnson City, NY. Byron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service he worked as a truck driver. On September 6, 1968 he married Connie Lou (Letscher) with whom he was about to celebrate 53 years of loving marriage. Together Byron and Connie made Citrus County their home in 1989 after relocating from Rixseyville, VA. For many years he enjoyed building 3 wheel trikes from the ground up using Volkswagen chassis and motors. In his spare time Byron’s favorite hobby was to go fishing. He absolutely loved fishing!
In addition to his wife Connie, those left to mourn Byron’s passing include his son, David Strickland and his wife Angie of Lake Butler, FL; four grandchildren: Thomas Hayes, Samantha Link, Danielle Strickland, Eric Strickland; and eight great grandchildren.
Byron will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with full military honors at a later date. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
