David L Millikan

David L. Millikan, 92 of Inverness, passed away September 1, 2021 at Citrus Health & Rehab Center in Inverness. David was born on March 16, 1929, in Tiffin, OH, to the late Robert Franklin and Laura (Grosvenor) Millikan. He was a US Air Force veteran and came to Citrus County 20 years ago from Clarence, NY. He was member of the First Presbyterian Church in Inverness.

During his younger years, David was interested in water skiing and was an Eagle Scout. His interest in flying began in high school when he started flying planes, and continued throughout his life. He graduated from Purdue University with a major in aeronautical engineering and worked at Aerobic Lab in Buffalo, NY. While living in New York, he was a flight instructor and a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilot Association. He also was a member of the EAA Aircraft Association and built and flew his own star duster and piston planes.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Michelle Edwards and her husband Troy of Danville, KY, Preston Millikan and his wife Lisa, of California, MD; brother, Joel Millikan and his wife Bonnie; grandchildren: Nichole Goralnik and her husband Alex, Caler Edwards and his wife Madison; great grandchild: Eveleigh Goralnik. David was just recently preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Constance Millikan on July 28, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Allan Millikan, Roger Millikan.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home and will be conducted by Reverend Lou Ellen Hartley of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Following the chapel service David will be laid to rest with full military honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 12:30 PM. The procession to the cemetery will depart the funeral home promptly at 11:45 AM. The Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
