Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On
Dawn M Horton

Dawn M Horton

Dawn Michelle Horton, age 52, Floral City died suddenly on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at home.
Dawn was born in San Diego, CA on October 3, 1968 to the late Grover Henry Drake and Patricia Kay Bick-Drake and came to Citrus County from South Carolina in 2017.

Dawn was a kind and selfless woman. She was adventurous, intelligent, strong willed, and tough. She loved her children and everyone else’s children too!! She will be forever remembered for “No Rules Day”!!!
Dawn traveled the world at an early age as a military brat. She loved to travel, especially taking cruises and going to the beach. Dawn loved to be around family and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was always a very hard worker and had many professions. We can definitely say she was always tougher than most, she grew up as her dad’s son lol (Doing all the things a son would normally do). As a child she practiced ballet and played multiple instruments including clarinet, flute, and violin. She had a love for Motorcycles like no other, it was the freedom she got from every ride she couldn’t find anywhere else. If you ride you know!!! She was also very creative; she had many hidden talents in arts and crafts. Definitely loved shopping. One thing we know is that Dawn touched more hearts than we could ever imagine. From her smile to her contagious laugh. The memories we are left with shall carry us each through these difficult times. We all love you so much and miss you even more! With this we leave you with this poem.

SHIP BEYOND THE HORIZON

The human soul is like a ship
Sailing proudly on Life’s seas,
With sails hoisted in magnificence
She sails upon the buoyant breeze.

Then, as she fast approaches
The horizon far away,
She slips gently from our site
Towards another day.

Although we cannot see her
Nor no longer gaze in awe,
She still sails proudly onward
Too far off distant shore.

Those waiting on that distant shore
For our loved ones who have passed,
With open arms will welcome them
And Embrace them at long last.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Lathie E. “Mo’ Horton of Floral City;
2 sons: Kevin Benjamin Suta and his wife Amy of Floral City; Geoffrey Drake Shirling and his wife Amber of Floral City;
2 grandchildren, Nolan and David.
