George R Ayers

George Raymond Ayers of Inverness, FL passed away at his home on July 4, 2021 at the age of 70. He was born to the late Milton and Dorothy (Wunderlich) Ayers on July 15, 1950 in Bronx, NY. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, George began a career in auto services and owned and operated his own shop prior to his retirement.

George was an avid chess player and enjoyed playing on his computer late in life. He loved riding his motorcycle, riding up and down the east coast multiple times. George also loved bicycling. In Florida, he could frequently be found on the trails on his recumbent bike. This no doubt added years to his life.

Those left to mourn George’s passing include his son, Adam Ayers and his wife Molly of Bronx, NY; daughter, Dianne Osmin and her husband Jason of Bath, NY; grandchildren: Adrian Ayers, Bryan Ayers, Rita Osmin, Aiden Osmin; and former wife Rita (Ortman) Ayers. George was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Ayers in 2006.

A committal service is scheduled for Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where full military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Prior to the service at the cemetery, friends and family are invited to gather at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness at 10:00 AM where George’s son Adam will eulogize his father. The procession from the funeral home to the cemetery will leave promptly at 10:45 AM. Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, 3075 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness, FL 34450.
