David Alan Rivard, Sr., 75, of Hernando, FL passed away on June 23, 2021 at his home under the care of VITAS Hospice and surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Albert J. and Dorothy Coleman Rivard on April 13, 1946 in Leominster, Massachusetts.
He began work in “Plastic City” in Leominster, MA, first beginning on the floor as a plastic-manufacturing machine operator and worked his way up to Assistant Plant Manager at the plastic factory. He made Citrus County his home with his wife, Terry at the very beginning of this year, after they moved from Leominster, Massachusetts to follow David’s dream of wanting to live in Florida for the last few years. He and his wife have celebrated 58 years of marriage together, and he was deeply loved and cherished by her.
Dave will be remembered for having a big heart, being sensitive but ornery, and an all-around family-oriented man. He loved visiting Hawaii with his wife, and taking cruises with her. He belonged to the Leominster Sportsman Club, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. He also belonged to the Exchange Club of Montachusett Area and then the Exchange Club of North Worcester County. He was also known as “Mayor on the Hill” to his neighbors.
Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Rivard who passed in 1980. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Terry Rivard; his children, David Alan Rivard, Jr. of Clearwater, FL, Tammy Anne Gaydos wife of Edward of Freeport, FL, and Dawn Marie Thibaudeau, wife of Dave of Fitchburg, MA; his sister, Debra Ann Attreau wife of Richard of Inverness, FL; his eight cherished grandchildren, Crystal Lynn Rivard, David Albert Rivard, Sean Michael Rivard, Jonathan Andrew Gaydos, Steven Alan Rivard Howell, Ashley Nichole Gaydos, Samantha Jean Gaydos, and Tabitha Lee-Anne Taylor; and his six adored great-grandchildren, Jalynn Rivard, Aliece Almestica, Damian Almestica, David Parry Rivard, Aiden Michael Rivard, and Annabelle Joy Gaydos. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
