Jarvis J. “Jerry” Merrick of Beverly Hills, FL passed away at his home while under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice Healthcare at the age of 87 on February 14, 2021. Jerry was born on September 12, 1933 in Somerset, KY to the late Willie and Elizabeth Merrick. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was married to his loving wife Wanda Merrick for 48 years until her passing in August of 2008. Jerry and Wanda made Citrus County their home in 2000 after relocating from Boynton Beach, FL. Jerry was a member of the Cowboy Church of Hernando. In his spare time he enjoyed caring for his yard and gardening. He was a generous man that was always ready to lend a helping hand to others in their time of need.
Those left to mourn Jerry’s passing include his children: Sherry Kindall of Beverly Hills, FL, James Merrick and his wife Ursula of Beverly Hills, FL, Michael Surfus and his wife Gloria of Indiana, Robin Prospere of Boynton Beach, FL, Christopher Merrick of Bushnell, FL; brother: Charles Merrick; sister, Christine Rowley; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his very special and dear friend, Irene Sharpe of Beverly Hills, FL. He was preceded in death by brothers: Bill, Marlon, Don and Garvin Merrick; and sister June.
A Celebration of Jerry’s life is scheduled for Sunday, March 14 at 3:00 PM at the Cowboy Church of Hernando located at 3962 N. Roscoe Road, Hernando, FL 34442. The family would like to request that all of those attending the service please wear a mask. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
