Meldon F. Bishop, 71, of Floral City, FL and formerly of Seasport, Maine, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 30, 1949 to the late Gerald and Georgianna (York) Bishop in Belfast, Maine. Meldon enjoyed sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He bravely served our country as a member of the United States National Guard. He was Christian by faith and enjoyed attending the Fort Cooper Baptist Church as well as Istachatta Baptist Church. Meldon loved to sing, go yard saleing, and do yard work with his Kubota. He enjoyed spending time on his back porch watching his horses, dokeys, and mini steer in the field. Meldon often traveled to Maine to visit his family and friends in his hometown. His work in the transportation industry began with his job as an engineer for Belfast Moosehead Lake Railroad. Meldon then followed his father’s footsteps and began his career in trucking, where he would continue for more than 42 years. Meldon’s dream of owning his own trucking company would eventually come true in which his hard work and dedication to his profession earned him the respect of both his employees and customers.
Meldon is preceded in death by his brother, Dana Bishop and his parents Gerald and Georgianna (York) Bishop. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years, Yvonne Bishop; children, Shirley Partridge and her husband Matthew Partridge, David Hall and his wife, Jamie Hall, Sharon Keach and her husband Greg Keach, Christopher Hamilton, Brandi Bishop, Danielle Bishop, Mahayla Bishop, and Kayla Bishop; his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his brothers, Gerald “Sonny” Bishop, his twin Milford Bishop, Javan “Joe” Bishop; and his two sisters, Terry James and Darlene “Velvet” Curtis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Maine and will be arranged by Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, Maine. Meldon will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Searsport, Maine. Local arrangements are private and are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
