JACK BROWN NASH
World War II Army Veteran, Jack Brown Nash, passed peacefully on Dec. 17, 2020 in Inverness, Florida at 95 years old.
Born in 1925 in Bluefield, Virginia he spent his early years fishing local streams and hunting on East River Mountain. He carried that love of the outdoors throughout his life.
After entering the Army in 1943, he served in the 164th Combat Engineers during the Western front of World War II—landing on Utah Beach, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and protecting the Bridge at Remagen from German forces. His detailed tales of the War were always enjoyed and will be deeply missed.
A Florida resident since 1959, he raised his family and coached little league baseball in Lantana, Florida. After retiring from Flowers Baking Company he spent his time at “frog level” in Citrus County.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Anne Nash and brothers Alvin and Ray Nash. He is survived by his brother Paul Nash and loving children Jack W. Nash, Gail Holland and Pam Morrison; stepdaughter Pat Rothenberg and family and by those who call him “Poppy”.
He will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery on Thursday, Jan 21, 2021 at 2:20 PM with private military honors and committal service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to The Honor Flight Network. https://www.honorflight.org/
