George F Grant

George Foster Grant of Hernando, FL passed away at Advent Health in Ocala, FL on December 17, 2020 at the age of 65. George was born in Melrose, MA to the late Allen and Gladys (Manley) Grant on October 15, 1955. On May 17, 1975 he married Jeanne (Bittner) with whom he shared 45 years of loving marriage. Prior to retirement, George was employed as an Electrical Lineman for the City of Littleton, MA. He and Jeanne made Citrus County their home in 1997 after relocating from Townsend, MA. In his spare time George enjoyed forging steel and making homemade knives. He loved traveling with his wife and had traveled to Alaska on two different occasions. George also liked going to the gun range and being outdoors however, his favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. While he was a friendly and outgoing man that never met a stranger, family was George’s everything and he preferred to spend any spare time he had with them. After being diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of 49, George and Jeanne decided life was too precious to “wait” to grow old together. They began to travel more and try to enjoy their children and grandchildren as much as possible. George had an immense zest for life and fought hard to beat down his cancer on several occasions.

In addition to his wife Jeanne, those left to mourn George’s passing include his daughters: Emilie Poots and her husband Thomas of Ocala, FL, Cassandra Iverson of Hernando, FL; son, George Grant II and his wife Shaina of Pine Ridge, FL; sisters: Judy Reed of Las Vegas, NV, Suzanne Chase of Providence, RI; grandchildren: Angelique, Savannah, Adaira, Kayden, Ava, Max, Ryan, Isla Charlotte and Willow. George was preceded in death by his brother, Ernie Grant on July 4, 2017.

A Memorial Service will be determined at a later date in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
