Martin N. Share, 87, passed away December 12, 2020 at his home in Inverness, FL. Marty was born June 4, 1933, in London (Greenford), Middlesex, England, to Charles Roberts Share and Edna Ray Martin Share. He was raised in England during the difficult years of World War II, surviving numerous bombings. A cherished memory of his childhood was attending the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with his grandmother.
He served in the Royal Navy from 1950-53 and shortly thereafter emigrated to Canada. A few years later he discovered the warm weather in Florida and immigrated to the United States, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1979.
He married his sweetheart, Mary Merle Jenkins, in1958, and they became the parents of three daughters. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He worked in construction as a tile setter before starting and operating his own successful swimming pool construction company in central Florida.
Marty loved to grow palm trees, especially rare palms, and planted hundreds of palms all over Marco Island, FL, during the 1980s and ‘90s. He was known locally as a palm expert. He also loved golfing and boating and was devoted to serving the Lord in church and at home.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosemary Holman. He is survived by his loving wife and their three children: Vicki (Robert) Albretsen, Karen (Clifford)Ellis, and Gail (Derek) Berge,15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and his sister,Judith Kimber.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3474 W. Southern St., Lecanto, FL. Burial will follow at the Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Beverly Hills. Friends may call at the Church from 12:00 Noon until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Vitas Hospice, PO Box 1330, Lecanto, FL 34460. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness. Masks are respectfully requested.
