Anne Marie Stone, 88, of Inverness, FL, died 11 December 2020, at Vitas Healthcare of Lecanto FL.
She was born 13 July, 1932, in Boston, MA, to Charles Winslow and Irene Hart.
Anne spent many years in remote areas of the wilderness, including the Everglades and the Rocky Mountains. She attended St. Anne’s School for Girls in Arlington, MA, and received her B.A. from the University of Miami. She did post-graduate work at the Sorbonne in Paris, and at NYU; she received her M.A. from Middlebury College. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, Phi Kappa Phi, and Kappa Delta Pi. She taught French all of her life, and ultimately settled in Inverness, FL, teaching at Citrus High School for the remainder of her career. She also taught Continuing Education classes in both French and Spanish at Withlacoochee Tech, and tutored adult students at her home. She taught 5th grade Sunday School at St Benedict Catholic Church in Crystal River, FL.
Her interests included family, travel, and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Calvin Tiger of Davie, FL, Heather Martin of Marietta, GA, and Timothy Stone of San Francisco, CA, 11 cherished grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Joseph Stone and Stephen Tiger.
She kept every single Christmas card she received, neatly stored and labeled in boxes by year, going back to at least the early 80s.
Arrangements for Anne are private. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast.
